SUMMARY
The Director of Product Development will be responsible for leading and managing the Product Development team and process by providing day-to-day project guidance and direction. This individual will provide leadership to the Formulation Lab and Packaging Development teams. This position will also be involved with various projects from concept to production scale up.
The focus of this position is the successful development and launch of new SKU development; on time and within budget. This is achieved through leading, managing, coaching and gaining the commitment of the Product Development team in conjunction with close collaboration with the Account Teams to include Sales and Account Management team members.
A proactive approach focused on customer specific innovation and creative problem solving is required. A mindset and orientation towards service with the ability to see reality objectively coupled with a competitive drive and a results focus is essential to achieving the performance objectives. Flexibility in adapting, creative problem solving with an appropriate sense of urgency and appreciation for detail and process is critical to the success in this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Product Development group consisting of Packaging and Formulation teams for successful and on time product launches including the development sample schedule.
Coach and facilitate growth of employees to include functional training and talent development.
Cultivate a culture of learning. Foster an environment of flexibility with a focus on customer specific innovation.
Evaluate, collaborate and lead system and process improvement.
Manage an environment of flexibility with a focus on customer specific innovation.
Collaborate with the trial team to support trial runs to validate and reproduce products from bench to factory experimental formulas and processing procedures.
Manage internal and external testing process and protocols for shelf life, durability studies and regulatory requirements to meet domestic and international requirements.
Actively engage in the implementation of product, processing and equipment needs with the Operations Team to include:
o existing product enhancement and cost reductions
o new product development
o process and equipment specifications
o other requirements as required
Communicate and work directly with customers throughout the development cycle.
Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
Support and help implement continuous process improvements.
Support and adhere to Twincrafts values and credo.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
Must have strong management experience; managing product development teams is preferred, not required.
The ability to work well with all levels of the organization is necessary.
Must be highly competent in leadership; possess technical expertise, coaching and developing skills, and strong planning and executing strategies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Regulatory and FDA experience preferred.
Candidate must be proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
