TASCAM Portastudio 424MKIII 4-track Cassette Recorder - Opportunity for sale in Winooski, VT
For sale! Tascam Portastudio 424 Mk III four track cassette deck recorder, for parts only, sold as-is. Includes four brand new unopened cassettes. It powers on, but when you hit play or record, it usually only runs for a second then stops. Sometimes it will work properly (but not usually). It seems the "auto stop" is malfunctioning. When it only runs for a second, the tape counter doesn't count; but when it plays properly it does count...maybe this is related. I tried to Google a fix, but I don't know what the problem is. It seems like a sensor thinks it's at the end of the tape. Maybe it's an easy fix? It worked perfectly a few years ago, before I stored it. I was able to play an old four track cassette in it the other day, and all four tracks of audio were coming through, the mixer worked, EQ worked. The LED display seems to work fine too.
